Heavensway Baptist Mission was organized under the leadership of Rev. John Lewis Mack on July 9, 1984, in his own home at 423 W. Mulberry Avenue in Pleasantville, NJ.
On August 14, 1985, five acres of land was purchased on Tremont Avenue in McKee City, NJ. Two years later, a building permit was granted by the Egg Harbor Township Building Committee in May of 1987.
Under the leadership of Bro. Clarence Mack, the project began construction with the help of many friends and members of the congregation. The church was completed with no financial burden on the people. While the church was being built, we were blessed to use the Pleasantville Recreation Center until its completion. On March 11, 1989, we officially marched into our present facility. The service was officiated by the Bethany Baptist Association, where Rev. William McClurkin, pastor of Mt. Olive in Cape May Court House delivered a powerful word. It was at this service that Heavensway Baptist Mission became Heavensway Baptist Church.
God’s blessings continued and on October 27, 2002, Heavensway Baptist Church of Vineland, NJ was established at 830 Iowa Ave, Vineland NJ. Services began there in November 2002. Soon afterwards in February 2003, God blessed us to be able to purchase the Vineland property where Rev. John Wesley Mack was installed there as the pastor.
As our congregation grew, the need for additional space was required and in 2005, 5 classrooms and 2 bathrooms were added to the existing church in Egg Harbor Township.
May of 2008, renovations, and upgrades began to the sanctuary and were completed in 2009. As the vision continued, we were able to build a mortgage free church own parsonage on the property in EHT in June of 2012. The parsonage was completed in the summer of 2012, which now house our founding Pastor and his family.
Our Kidz Church ministry came into existence through an act of love in December 2010. God revealed this ministry to Rev. Mack while on vacation to the Holy Land in Florida. The Kidz Church ministry was then and now under the leadership of Min. John Peeler. Creating a team of leaders, through our Kidz Church, many children have accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and have been baptized.
On May 1, 2016, Min. John Peeler became the first ordained Reverend in the history of Heavensway.
This service was officiated by the Bethany Baptist Association. Gods plan was carried out on January 18, 2018, where Rev. Peeler was installed as the Assistant Pastor.
On November 15, 2020, Rev. John Mack announced that it was with great pleasure that he was passing the pastorate of Heavensway onto Rev. John I. Peeler, Sr.
God has always blessed Heavensway and as the vision continues, He will do so as long as we remain faithful to him.
